Field Notes United States Of Letterpress Set of 3
This United States of Letterpress Field Notes limited edition, celebrating the art of letterpress, is one of their most intriguing and ambitious to-date.
Field Notes worked with some of the best independent letterpress shops in the U.S. to create a series of notebooks that reflects the artistry, skill and personal philosophies of each printer. Field Notes sent each printer a different color paper stock from French Paper (the same company that provides paper for the order invoices you receive from us) and directions to use only two ink colors, Rubine Red and Process Blue. Everything else, layouts, themes, typography and the images created from physical printing ornaments were left totally up to the designer/printer and, indeed, the creativity is astonishing.
This Pack C features the work of Rick Griffith of Denver, Colorado; Erin Beckloff of Springboro, Ohio and Chicago's own Jen Farrell of Starshaped Press. Rick and Erin provided two cover designs so the pack you receive may differ somewhat from what's shown here.
The flyleaves were printed by Skylab Letterpress of Kansas City, Missouri with a reproduction of a border from the Bay Psalms Book (1640,) thought to be the first book printed by American colonists.
Field Notes' signature paper is inside, in a grid pattern, and the books are staple bound. Each notebook includes a brief background of its designer, a handy little ruler printed on the inside back cover and the Field Notes story.
