Vintage Addressograph Mulitgraph Multilith Pencils Reproducing 2538 H$4.00
Addressograph was a Chicago-based company founded by J. S. Duncan who, in 1893, frustrated by the inefficiency of his grain mill co-workers individually addressing price lists and client bids, invented and patented a machine that could address up to 2000 pieces an hour. In 1930 Addressograph merged with the American Multigraph Co. and expanded beyond addressing machines to other office equipment and supplies including pencils.
These pencils date from shortly after that merger and are in superb, unused condition. Graphite is graded H but has a little darker line and creamier application than a typical pencil of that hardness, perhaps because it was formulated to produce writing that could be easily reproduced. We particularly love the vermillion, ivory and gold finish.
