Joseph Dixon was a printer, photographer, inventor and entrepreneur who, in 1827, among many other accomplishments, produced the first pencil made in America and was responsible for the development of the graphite industry in the US. He founded The Joseph Dixon Crucible Company which, by 1870, was the largest manufacturer of graphite products in the world.
These color pencils date from the 1950s/60s. A testament to their original quality, the dark yellow color is still rich and vibrant with a soft, and creamy finish.
