Venus Drawing Pencils were manufactured by the American Pencil Company beginning in 1905. With seventeen hardness levels, they were created specifically for artists and architects. In the early 1970s, the company, like many other pencil manufacturers, was acquired by Faber-Castell. Once the most popular high-end pencil in the country, the Venus line has now been discontinued. These pencils are HB grade, similar to a No. 2 pencil, gold imprint and ivory end cap; some have slight pink discoloration. As with all quality vintage pencils, these still write and sharpen cleanly.
