The Portland Stamp Company has been busy reviving the lost art of poster stamps with a variety of clever designs to collect, frame or enliven correspondence and everything else. Poster stamps originated in the mid 1800s and were originally stamps printed with award-winning designs from poster contests. Eventually the term expanded to include any stamp-like label without postage stamp value.
